Valentine’s Day: The Ultimate Love Story

Celebrating Valentine’s Day can include giving your significant other a card, flowers, or candy. Or you can share special moments at dinner or at a movie.

But how about giving your significant other a unique gift by writing your love story? Include the following:
  • When you met
  • How you felt
  • Your first date
  • Your current relationship
  • Your favorite memory of your relationship
  • Your hopes for the future

You can begin your story with a traditional opening and write in third person:

Once upon a time, in the far away land of Ann Arbor, Michigan, there lived a young woman who decided to embark on a journey to study communications and psychology at University of Michigan. She decided to focus only on her education and declared she would never begin a relationship until after graduation. Little did she know, a tall and handsome young man would sweep her off her feet during spring break of their senior year. . .

Including pictures will bring your story to life. When you finish your story, have it bound in a book at your local print and copy store, and present it to your significant other. You can also put your story in a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation with voice over, a Prezi, a video, or a website.

You do not have to limit a gift like this to Valentine’s Day.

What memories do you have of meeting your significant other? This is the story in you. Share it.
